Let's examine the concept of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation according to the Webster's New World Dictionary means to have back, to restore to rank, reputation etc. which one has lost; to bring or restore to a state of health and or constructive activity.
Acts 3:21 states, "Jesus remains in heaven until the time of universal restoration which God spoke by the mouth of his Holy prophets long ago." World Health Organization (WHO,2007) states rehabilitation includes a wide range of activities in addition to medical care, including physical, psychological, and occupational therapy. Thirty-four percent of elderly Americans cannot independently perform at least one basic Activity of Daily Living (ADLS) (USDHHS). So, what can we as individuals do to keep restoring and refreshing our ADLS throughout our lives. This means every day we need to keep active by walking, working, recreating, reading, keeping hobbies, exercising, eating healthy meals, praying much, stop smoking, avoiding alcohol and other drugs, and developing a prayer life to function independently. Visit your Parish Nurse We are on a rehabilitative journey of living. Acts 3:20 states, "That times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus" My book, A COLLECTION OF PARISH NURSE NEWSLETTERS is available at www.dorrancebookstore.com; amazon.com; Eden Book Store (1-877-627-5653) toll free.
