Peace to all in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
"A wise man by hearing them will advance in learning, an intelligent man will gain sound guidance." (Proverbs 1:5) September is know as Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month, Healthy Aging Month, and National Cholesterol Month. In addition, September is also "back to school" time for our children. The back to school list may include school supplies, new clothes, computers, notebook, pens, paper, and pencils to name a few. |

But it should also include Hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis A (HAV) immunizations to protect our children from these diseases. Let's focus on HBV. It is a disease of the liver caused by HBV and can effect anyone. Before the use of the HBV vaccination of children, more than 200,000 people were infected. Some of the people who become infected never get rid of the disease. The infected liver develops cirrhosis or scarring and liver cancer. Each year about 5000 persons will die from this chronic disease. (www.cdc.gov) To prevent these diseases, see your health care provider for the vaccinations. Visit the website www.cdc.gov for more information, or call your local public health department or your parish nurse.
HAPPY AND SAFE SCHOOL YEAR September 8th celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. 3John2 states, "Beloved, I hope you are in good health - may you thrive in all other ways as you do in spirit."
