June is National Home Safety Month (www.homesafetycouncil.org). Let's busy ourselves this month of June as we start our summer work. Work, as defined by Webster's dictionary is the effort exerted to do or make something, labor, toil, to cultivate, employment, act or deed (good works), engineering structures as bridges, and collected writings to name a few.

Stay alert at all times when working outside. Practice safety when mowing the yard, cutting down trees, painting the house, using ladders, making fires to burn brush, roofing house or garage, gardening, using chemicals on weeds, using new machinery-read directions first, wearing helmets when bike riding, wearing sun screen and mosquito/tick repellent, get your tetanus vaccination, wearing safety glasses, using ear plugs with noisy machinery and above all wear appropriate shoes and clothing when outside working. See health care provider when necessary.
