| Dear Viewers, Joy and Peace to all this Advent Season. Mark 13:37 states, "What I say to you, I say to all: Watch." As we enter the four weeks of Advent, we use this time for preparation of the coming of Christ. This is a joyous time waiting and watching for Him. It is also the time of Light. The Light of Christmas is the symbol of the incarnation. Christ is the Light that came into the world. We are reminded in Scripture: "Christ is the light who came to dispel the darkness." |

Others symbols of Christmas which bring forth the paschal
dimension of Advent/Easter are the wreath which is a sign of victory.
The Holly berry's red color is reminiscent of the blood shed by Christ
and its thorns are the crown of thorns and the tree is the cross.
Let us have more joy and less stress; more love and less violence. Some ways to have more joy are: Prayer and fasting opens our hearts to Christmas love; be kinder to each other; don't blow your budget; add a bit of spirit and do something nice for someone who doesn't expect it; don't drink alcohol in excess; and don't drink if pregnant; feel free to refuse alcohol; plan ahead and save time for yourself. In regard to the preparation of food, keep cold food cold, hot food hot, defrost turkey in refrigerator-never at room temperature (if stuffing, do immediately before placing in the oven) or do stuffing on top of stove and keep all cooking utensils clean and wash you hands to prevent getting sick. In trimming of the tree keep in mind to check the lights, cords, sockets, replace missing bulbs and plug in lights for 10 minutes to make sure everything is safe. The tree should be placed in a sturdy and safe stand and away from heat sources. Let us pray for each other during this joyous season and through out the coming year. Isaiah 40:3 "A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the Lord! Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God." | |
