Dear Viewers, November is recognized as National Hospice Month, National Pancreas Cancer Month, National Diabetes Month and Thanksgiving for Americans. Let us review the concept of thanksgiving. Autumn is a time of the year when the sun can be warm, the air cool and crisp, the sky blue and a hint of winter to come. Thanksgiving comes at this time. "Pray perseveringly, be attentive to prayer, and pray in a spirit of thanksgiving." (Colossians 4:2) |

| Webster's Dictionary defines thanksgiving as a formal public expression of thanks to God. The Greek word for thanksgiving is Eucharist. The Cornucopia from the Latin means horn of plenty, abundant overflowing with fruits, vegetables, flowers, etc. How do we express our thanks to God? We give thanks in many ways such as for life, health, safe airplane and car trips, family, friends, jobs, food, education, freedom to go the church of our choice, air, water, freedom of speech, homes, and the access to dental and medical care to name a few. Always remember those not so fortunate in our prayers and charity. Deuteronomy 26:1-2 Thanksgiving for the Harvest states "when you have come into the land which the Lord, your God, is giving you as a heritage, and have occupied it and settled in it, you shall take some first fruits of the various products of the soil which you harvest from the land which the Lord, your God, gives you, and putting them in a basket, you shall go to the place which the Lord, your God, chooses for the dwelling place of his name." | |
