Peace to all in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
.
This month of October is known Nationally as Breast Cancer Awareness, Lupus Awareness, and Halloween Safety Month. Also, the leaves turn beautiful colors and fade away. School has started another year for our children. Our lives are busier than ever. Vacations are behind us. So where do we find quiet/silence time or where do we retreat?
.
In Mark 6:31 Jesus says to the apostles, "Come by yourselves to an out-of-the-way place and rest a little."

Retreat as defined in Webster's Dictionary means to withdraw, safe quiet place, a period of seclusion for a spiritual renewal. Retreat, according to the Modern Catholic Dictionary, (Hardon, 2004 ) states, "withdrawal for a period of time from one's usual surroundings and occupation to a place of solitude for meditation, self- examination, and prayer in order to make decisions about your spiritual life."
.
How do we find quiet time or silence? It is suggested to arrange a special place in your home ,set aside for silence. with candle. bible, devotional books, rosary, flowers, religious items of your choice. This quiet time can also be found by visiting your church, temple, planned retreat at an institution or a place of your choice.
.
How do we make this quiet time or silence? This time needs to be determined by the person to be in the morning, afternoon, or evening that best suits the schedule of the day. Then the time needs to be kept. The time can be as many minutes or hours as set by you. Evening might be better for some.
.
Some of the outcomes of a retreat are: "I feel rejuvenated." I believe my inner spirit/beauty is increased." "My spiritual wholeness of soul is felt." "I feel full of peace." "I am able to prioritize what is important to me for life." "I am in touch to whom I am." "It relieves my stress." "I feel closer to God."
.
"All you who are thirsty, come to the water." (Isaiah 55:1)

Celebrate St. Francis Assissi feast day October 4th.
