Dear Viewers,
Peace to all in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Happy St Francis Day celebrated October 4th. The month of October celebrates praying the Rosary. "Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established." ( Proverbs 24:3) October is designated as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. |
|
|
Domestic Violence refers "to a pattern of violent and coercive behavior exercised by one
adult in an intimate relationship over another. It is not "marital conflict," "mutual
abuse," a "lovers' quarrel," or a "private matter." It may consist of repeated, severe beatings or
more subtle forms of abuse, including threats and control." < www.faithtrustinstitute.org > Domestic violence does include child and elderly abuse. According to the U.S.
Department of Justice, 95% of domestic violence is committed against women.
Interventions include primary and secondary prevention. Primary prevention focuses on the general population through public service announcements encouraging positive discipline techniques for new families, media campaigns telling people how and where to report suspected abuse, and programs teaching parenting skills and child development. Secondary prevention focuses on the provision of services to families and individuals in need of help, support groups, education, and resource centers for information and referrals to families of limited income. (NURSING2004) Families can develop a prayer life praying at meals and bedtime and attending the church of their choice every week. "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonitions of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4) | |
