| Dear Viewers, Praise be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Happy St. Luke's Feast Day. And he said to his disciples, "Therefore I tell you,do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat, nor about your body, what you shall put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing....... Instead, seek His Kingdom, and these things shall be yours as well." (Luke 12:22-31). |

Webster's Dictionary defines trust as to have confidence, hope; to give credit, security; to give credence to; believe. The assured reliance on another's integrity, veracity, justice and confidence. This beautiful month of October let us consider the concepts of anxiety and trust. On the other hand, anxiety can be defined as a painful uneasiness of mind over an impending or anticipated event (Webster). Nursing defines anxiety as a state in which a person experiences feelings of apprehension or uneasiness in response to threat of a person's security/value system. The anxious person experiences increased tension, worries, insomnia and feelings of helplessness. These threats can range from mild uneasiness to panic (Carpenito, 2002). Anxiety can be lessened when the person admits its presence, trusts in the Lord, follows the prescribed regimen of the health care provider and counselor, explores coping mechanisms, and exercises daily.
"Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day." (Mathew 6:34). | |
