This month, let's concentrate on how a parish nurse uses Theological Reflection. According to Webster's Dictionary, theological is of,or pertaining to theology. Theology is the study of God. Theologize is to frame or fit into theology. Reflection is retrospection, meditate, ponder, and respond. Theological Reflection is a process of examining God's presence in our lives. This process encompasses practice in thinking, meditating,reading, studying, conversing with God and responding. It also covers the spiritual and ethics. How does the use of Theological Reflection (TR) help the individual or group? Some ways are: deeper understanding of your faith and how God's presence influences your decisions; and action that helps a person to have insight into a problem or relationship with a notable change and hope. How does a parish nurse use TR personally, in congregational issues, and team member issues? Personal Parish Nurse issues could involve spiritual growth and self-care. Congregational issues could involve faith, health, life style changes, aging, retirement, family, financial problems of the members; Team Ministry could involve the issues of faith, trust, responsibilities, relationships, delegation, authority, and finances.
