Dear Viewers,
Peace to all in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. August is known as "dog days, National Immunization Awareness Month, Children's Eye Health and Safety Month and National Cataract Awareness Month. Psalm 121 states, "I lift up my eyes toward the mountains, whence shall help come to me?" |

|
Let's focus on cataracts this month. Cataracts are defined as a clouding of the lens in the eyes that affects vision. Most cataracts are related to aging. It is the leading cause of visual loss among adults of 55 or older. A cataract can occur in either eye or both eyes.
Suspected causes, according to researchers, are age-related protein in the lens which overtime begins to clump, smoking and diabetes. Some risk factors include ultra violet (UV) sun light rays, air pollution, cigarette smoking and alcohol use. How can an individual protect his/her vision? Start wearing sun glasses and a wide brim hat, stop smoking, and decrease alcohol consumption, SEE YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER, eat a diet of green leafy vegetables, fruits and other foods containing antioxidants. (www.nei.nih.gov/health) CELEBRATE THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY AUGUST 15TH. Romans 8:25 states, "But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perserverance."
