In the beautiful month of May we look at the trees budding, grass getting greener and flowers blooming in an array of colors for us to behold.

Let's turn our thoughts to this ability and gift of vision. Vision as defined by Webster's dictionary is to see; a visual image; ocular perception; see as a prophet; and foresight. "Blessed are those who have not seen, yet believe" (John 10:29).
.
Age related vision loss afflicts millions of Americans over the age of 60. Age-Related Macular Degeneration(AMD) is the #1 cause of vision loss in the United States. It is estimated that more than 500.000 cases are diagnosed yearly. AMD affects your central vision. Some of the symptoms are: usually no pain, but the vision is blurry and advances with the loss of the central vision. When only central vision is affected in one eye, many people find it difficult to read, drive or perform other tasks that require fine central vision and should see their health care provider. Some risk factors are: risk increases as we age, found more in women and people who smoke, and those who have a family history of the disease and those with increased levels of cholesterol.
.
Findings of the National Eye Institute (NEI) show that high levelsof antioxidants, Zinc in diets significantly reduce the risk of AMD by about 25%. See your health care provider and wear sun glasses when out doors.
.
"Encourage each other daily while it is still today" (Hebrews 3:13).
