April is the fourth month of the year. The name April comes from the Latin word Aperire which means 'to open'. This is the season which opens the trees and flowers to bloom, planting of gardens, tilling the soil and mowing the grass. It is also known as National Smile Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the first week of April is the Week of the Young Child.
.
The Prophet Kahlil Gibran wrote, "Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself." Children are created by God, belong to God , and are the future of all human beings.
.
Children need protection, a safe environment, respect, love, education, the best health care available , prayers, taught how to pray and worship, and the enjoyment of their childhood. Let us pray and work for our children every day.
.
Matthew 19:14-15 states, "but Jesus said, "Let the children come to me . Do not hinder them. The kingdom of God belongs to such as these."
