"The promotion of the practice of stewardship is important for the mission of the church and for the spiritual well-being of each individual Christian. Everyone benefits from the sacrificial gift one makes of his time, talent, and treasure." (His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI) (www.catholicstewardship.org)
.
How do parish nurses practice stewardship? Parish nurses promote spiritual health through praying with individuals, being joyful and helpful, visiting the sick in hospitals, nursing homes and their homes, writing newsletters on healthful lifestyle, designing church bulletin boards with healthful news, sharing the art of nursing when needed, visiting the dying, visiting mothers and newborns, sharing the Rose Ministry, teaching of faith and health, checking blood pressures, arranging transportation for individuals ,attending funerals, reading scripture and other devotionals, attending church worship, telephoning shut-ins and the elderly and praying with them, offering comfort and support to those in need, to mention a few. HAPPY PARISH NURSES.
.
Romans 11:35-36 states, "Who has given him anything so as to deserve return? For from him and through him and for him all things are: To him be glory forever. Amen."
.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
